Two $750 awards will be given to seniors graduating Hickman in 2024.
The Kewpie50.com Scholarship Fund provides Scholarship awards toward postsecondary education, tuition and fees. Awards are based on need and scholastic achievement. Eligibility requirements also include a demonstration of community involvement and a documented pursuit of meaningful education or classes at postsecondary education institutions

May 15, 2023 (Columbia, Missouri) – The Kewpie Reunion Scholarship Fund today announced that two graduating seniors from Hickman High School, Opal Weber and Braden McKenzie, have been named as the first two recipients of $750 scholarships to continue their education. The scholarships were made possible through a fund created by Hickman graduates with the assistance of the Community Foundation of Central Missouri.
Opal Weber will pursue a degree in biology, conservation or environmental science at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She was awarded the Departmental Award for Theater, the PTSA Award for Outstanding Leadership and the Columbia Career Center’s award for Outstanding Student in Natural Resources. She has been active in the National Honors Society and the National Honors Science Society, for which she was secretary. She started Students for Change, a gun violence prevention club and was editor of the yearbook.
Braden McKenzie will attend the University of Missouri Columbia, Missouri in engineering with an emphasis in business. He was nominated to Boys State, was a member of the National Honor Society and received the Super Kewp Award given to students by teachers and faculty who select a senior who demonstrates the greatest personal growth.
The Community Foundation of Central Missouri (CFCM) met with members of the Hickman Class of 1971 to establish an on-going Reunion Scholarship Fund. The informal committee approached fellow classmates who contributed $9,500 during its first year. The RSF is intended to replenish itself and grow its corpus with donations from future Hickman Reunions. Questions can be directed to us at Contact Us.
The CFCM partners with donors and nonprofits with the purpose of benefiting citizens in central Missouri by consulting with donors and providing fund and investment management services. The CFCM service area includes the counties of Adair, Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Howard, Macon, Moniteau, and Randolph.
